An Introduction to the 2002 Subaru Outback Wilderness

The Subaru Outback is the thrill-seeking brand drivers turn to when they want to explore Willamette Valley with no boundaries. It is designed for adventure. But that wasn’t enough for Subaru. An all-new trim is getting added to models across the roster with its eyes set on showing you a great time when you hit the trails and valleys of Oregon.

Subaru Outback Wilderness

The Wilderness edition makes its debut with Subaru’s Outback Wilderness wagon. The Wilderness edition is no wallflower. It reports for duty with some specially designed features unique to the trim. For starters, it comes packed with an upgraded four-cylinder BOXER engine. This version pumps out 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque to climb even more safely through Lebanon.

The Outback Wilderness carries with it a new suit of armor with a cladding upgrade around the headlights and frame. Skid plates underneath the Outback’s body help protect it from the rocks, branches, or whatever else you may be traversing. The tires are enhanced to all-terrain Yokohama Geolander tires to get a better grip on or off-road.

Subaru Forester Wilderness

The next Subaru model to get the Wilderness treatment will be the 2022 Subaru Forester. It gets similar modifications as the Outback, including a suspension lift to raise its already impressive ground clearance to 9.5 inches. A redesign of the front and rear bumpers gives it a better departure angle. Inside, you’ll find water-repelling StarTex upholstery to help protect the interior on your days of wandering through snowy, muddy, or rocky conditions.

Both Wilderness models will carry trim-specific badging to help it stand out from the crowd. But this exciting new addition doesn’t need much help separating itself from its predecessors.
